Creditor law

From judgment to payment.

Creditor rights work is the focus of my practice. I represent businesses collecting debts and holders of difficult judgments.

A niche I have practiced for years

Collection work is often treated as an afterthought. It is not. The file that looks simple on day one — an unpaid invoice, a judgment from another state, a workers’ compensation award that never got paid — usually turns on venue, timing, exemptions, asset location, and whether the other side will actually respond.

I have handled these matters for businesses and for individuals who are owed money. I have also presented continuing legal education seminars for other lawyers on debt collection law. As a boutique law firm, clients have direct access and can expect diligent service.

Matters I handle

Indiana creditor rights

Commercial collection

Unpaid invoices, breached contracts, and account balances for businesses. I handle the demand, the lawsuit when needed, and the work after judgment.

Workers’ compensation judgments

Awards that have already been entered still have to be collected. I pursue payment of workers’ compensation judgments against employers and carriers who have not paid.

Out-of-state judgments

A judgment from another state does not collect itself in Indiana. I domesticate foreign judgments and then use Indiana collection tools against local assets.

Unpaid injury judgments

Winning a personal-injury case is not the same as getting paid. I work to enforce unpaid injury judgments through available post-judgment remedies.

Judgment collection generally

Garnishment, proceedings supplemental, liens, and related enforcement — the detail-heavy work that turns a piece of paper into money.

Post-judgment discovery

Finding wages, bank accounts, and other assets that can be reached after a judgment is entered — then using the tools Indiana law allows.

How this work usually starts

  1. 01

    The facts, not the story

Who owes what, on what document, and what has already been tried. Bring the contract, the judgment, the award, and the correspondence.

  2. 02

    Whether collection is realistic

A judgment against someone with no assets is a different case than a judgment against a going business. I am honest with clients about the feasibility of collection efforts.

  3. 03

    Demand, suit, or enforcement

Some files need a letter. Some need a lawsuit. Some already have a judgment and need Indiana enforcement tools. We pick the step that matches the file.
